10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Cataract Surgery:
(Especially while your surgeon is using all 4 limbs to operate)

1️⃣ We operate through incisions as small as 2.2-2.75mm, no stitches needed.
2️⃣ The original lens is broken into tiny pieces using ultrasound before removal.
3️⃣ The new artificial lens stays in your eye permanently
4️⃣ We operate under a microscope magnifying the eye up to 6–20x.
5️⃣ Your eye pressure and fluid are controlled by foot pedals, not our hands.
6️⃣ We can correct long-sightedness, short-sightedness, and astigmatism during cataract surgery.
7️⃣ The whole surgery often takes less than 20 minutes.
8️⃣ The eye is awake, no full-body anesthesia needed for most cases.
9️⃣ We don’t remove the whole lens capsule, we keep part of it to hold the new lens.
🔟 The sharpest part of surgery is not the blade, it’s our precision.

Most patients thought we surgeons only use our hands to operate.

But they don’t see what’s going on under the operating table,
our dancing feet are doing as much work as our hands at the same time..👀

Cataract surgery isn’t just manual work…
it’s coordination and precision, and timing down to milliseconds.

Hands guide the eye.
Feet control the machine.
Brain stays calm.
Vision restored.

Now I’m curious…
What other job needs all 4 limbs plus your brain & eyes working together?
