Reach For Recovery - West Michigan

Reach for Recovery is honored to partner with seven other organizations through Project HOME, a collaborative effort focused on addressing the growing unhoused population in the Holland community.
By working together, we can better connect individuals and families to housing resources, supportive services, and pathways toward long-term stability and hope.
Good Samaritan is proud to be one of eight partner organizations that form Project HOME, a new initiative addressing homelessness using a coordinated, regional approach.
Last year, over 1,000 people experienced homelessness, and emergency shelter usage has doubled since 2022. The need is bigger than any one organization can meet alone, which is exactly why this kind of partnership matters for Ottawa County.
The launch event highlighted an upcoming dashboard, hosted by the Lakeshore Housing Alliance, to help partners make data-driven decisions. It also featured the first phase of a Community Resource Hub located at the Salvation Army Holland Corps Community Center, which will provide unsheltered neighbors with access to warm meals and information about each organization's services.
By working together, we can reach more of our neighbors and help them find a path to stable housing and financial stability.

Recovery Story Spotlight
Recovery is not a straight line — it’s a journey of strength, setbacks, hope, and healing.
This story is a reminder that change is possible, even when it feels out of reach. Through challenges and difficult moments, there was a turning point — a decision to seek help, accept support, and take things one step at a time.
With the right resources, encouragement, and perseverance, recovery became more than just a goal — it became a new way of living.
Today, this story reflects resilience, growth, and the courage it takes to keep going. It’s proof that no one has to walk the path alone.
If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available, and recovery is possible.

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming Dave Teater, a well-known former Executive Director of OAR/Reach for Recovery, as a community guest speaker at our Men’s Residential program.
Dave shared meaningful insight from his leadership journey and lived experience in the recovery field, offering encouragement and perspective that deeply resonated with our residents. His visit was a powerful reminder of the impact that strong leadership, connection, and long-standing commitment can have on the recovery community.
We are grateful for his time, his words of encouragement, and his continued support of the mission.

Last Friday, we hosted our 2nd Annual Swing Fore Recovery Golf Outing, and it was truly an incredible day! From the beautiful weather to the amazing turnout, we are so grateful for the support from our sponsors, golfers, donors, and volunteers who helped make this event such a success.
Because of their generosity and support, we’re able to continue furthering Reach for Recovery’s mission and impact in our community.
