Meet Sarah Harvin, Junior, Class of 2016. This summer, Sarah will be working at the University of Michigan with a surgeon. She will be analyzing CAT scans of kidney samples to see if there is a difference in kidney structure between African Americans and other groups that might explains increased renal failure in African Americans.

This Tuesday we during our lunch with President Knapp, we celebrated the unveiling of a beautiful painting by artist Maria Isasi, mother of our sophomore student, Emilio Isasi. The painting will go up in the FACES spaces as a celebration of science.

Dr. Eric Mazur, the the Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University and Area Dean of Applied Physics, is visiting Hope this Friday, February 13th and you have the opportunity to chat with him over a coffee break Friday morning. The gathering will be informal and we'll provide you with beverages and snacks.

He's a pretty amazing researcher (interest are is applied photonics) who is also widely know in academic circles for his interests in STEM education. We would love for you to join him to chat about not only about his areas of expertise, but also about the education and career choices that led to where he is now.
