Most modern farms grow a single crop over huge areas of land, but agroforestry works completely differently

Instead of fighting nature, agroforestry is designed to copy the structure of a natural forest ecosystem

Tall trees, support plants, ground covers, root crops, and fruit trees all grow together in layered rows

Some plants pull nutrients up from deep in the soil while others create mulch, shade, and protection for more sensitive crops

The massive plant diversity also helps attract beneficial insects while naturally reducing pest pressure

One of the coolest parts is watching the system slowly begin regulating and fertilizing itself over time
