Moving my business to Hawaiʻi—specifically, Hilo—changed the way I think about building anything.

Back in the Quad Cities, I had time. I was able to slowly build relationships and clientele over years before going full-time.

Coming here, it felt like hitting reset.

New place. New people. New ground to earn trust on.

And I won’t lie—it’s been humbling.

There have been seasons where I’ve just been building quietly, without much happening on the surface yet. Learning the community. Showing up. Staying consistent even when things felt slow or uncertain.

But over time, things start to root themselves here if you stay with it.

Last weekend I got to cover HIAC’s 50th anniversary—something I’m really grateful for. Being trusted to help tell that story meant a lot.

And this weekend I’m working with LIV Pregnancy and Women’s Wellness, another organization doing really meaningful work in this community.

That’s what I keep coming back to.

It’s not always fast. It’s not always obvious.

But if you keep showing up, keep doing the work, and keep serving where you are—you start to become part of the place.
