Copper Mesa Elementary School

We are so grateful for our partnership with Mountain Vista High School and the incredible students of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica!
This week, our high school leaders visited Copper Mesa Elementary School to read bilingual books with our kindergarten, second, and fifth grade students. Watching lightbulbs go off as our learners used context clues to discover the meaning of Spanish words was pure joy.
We feel so fortunate to partner with SHH not only for these meaningful read-alouds, but also through our CME Spanish Club. Each week, high school students come to learn, dance, and support our kids as they grow their language skills and confidence.
This is what community, connection, and lifelong learning look like. Thank you, Vista, for pouring into our students!
Our cafeteria has a beautiful new look and it’s straight from the hearts of our students. 💚
Thanks to our incredible PTO, our fifth and sixth graders worked together on this paint-by-number mural as a special gift to the school before they head off to middle school in just a few short months. Watching them collaborate, encourage one another, and take pride in their work was truly special.
This mural represents more than a Rocky Mountain trail scene; it reflects the journey our students have taken together and the strong community they’ve helped build here. Most of all, it was meaningful for them to give back and leave their mark on a place that has been home for so many important memories.
We are so proud of this class and so grateful to our PTO for creating opportunities that bring our community together.

Our second-grade scientists reached for the stars last week with an incredible guest presentation from Mark Fry of Blue Origin. He visited our classrooms to share the wonders of space exploration and the engineering behind rocket flight.
One of the highlights was the Mail to Space project. Students wrote personal postcards that will travel into orbit aboard the New Shepard spaceship. When they return to Earth, the postcards will be mailed back with an official “Flown to Space” stamp, a lasting reminder of their connection to the future of space travel.
We are so grateful to the Fry family and our supportive community for providing the stamps and resources that made this hands-on, high-flying learning experience possible. Experiences like this spark curiosity, creativity, and big dreams.
