One beacon. One rescue. One life saved.
After a commercial fishing vessel sank off Montauk, rescue crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing, and the New York Army National Guard located the captain clinging to his EPIRB and brought him home safely.
A registered, working EPIRB was the only distress signal—and it made all the difference.
