Sometimes it’s not that you’re “too sensitive” it’s that you’ve been carrying things no one ever taught you how to put down.
You keep showing up, pushing through, holding it together & from the outside, it probably looks like you’re doing fine.
But inside? It’s a lot.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about finally having a place where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or be the “strong one.”
Just space to be human.
(Which, honestly, is more radical than it should be.)
If you’ve been thinking about it… that thought didn’t come out of nowhere.
You can read every book, listen to every podcast, and still find yourself one minor inconvenience away from unraveling…
Like… say… this. 😅
Because it’s never just about the comforter.
It’s the stress, the mental load, the “I was barely holding it together before this happened.”
This is the stuff no one teaches you how to handle in real time,
the moments where your reaction feels bigger than the situation.
Therapy (and the skills you learn there) isn’t about becoming unbothered.
It’s about knowing what to do with yourself when you are.
Even if “yourself” is currently standing there holding a paper towel, questioning all your life choices.
You can’t set a clear boundary if you don’t know what you need.
And a lot of people were never taught how to even figure that out.
So instead, you might notice: You say “yes” when you mean “no”
You feel drained but can’t explain why
You get resentful… then feel guilty for it
That’s not a boundary problem.
That’s a self-connection problem.
Before the words come out of your mouth, there’s a quieter skill: 👉 Pausing long enough to ask, “What am I actually feeling right now?”
👉 Getting honest about what would help, soothe, or protect you
Boundaries don’t start with other people.
They start with being able to hear yourself.
If that feels hard, you’re not alone & it’s a skill you can learn.
Save this for when you feel overwhelmed but don’t know why. 🤍
