KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! 💼✨

Starting today, we’re kicking off Teen Know Your Rights Week at Eden Area ROP!

Whether you’re working now or planning to get a job soon, it’s important to understand your rights as a worker — from fair pay 💵 and breaks ⏱️ to workplace safety 🦺 and knowing what employers can and can’t do.

Did you know? 👀
✔️ You must be paid for training time
✔️ You have the right to breaks and sick leave
✔️ Your employer cannot take your tips
✔️ Wage theft is illegal

(All straight from this guide 👆)

📌 Check out the posters in your classrooms, refer back to this post, or learn more at laborcenter.berkeley.edu/rights

🎤 And all week long, listen out for our daily announcements featuring:

🧬✨ Huge thank you to our incredible guest panelists for inspiring the Biomedical Pathway students at Hayward High!

We appreciate Mykel Jensen-Vallar (UCSF), Marinita Santos (H.A.R.D.), and Gary Howard (retired scientific writer & editor) for sharing your experiences, insights, and career journeys.

Your voices help our students see what’s possible in the world of healthcare and science — and the many paths they can take to get there. 🙌
