Today, we commemorate D-Day and honor the courage of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Their bravery helped us achieve victory in World War II and safeguard the cause of freedom. May we never forget their sacrifice and service.

T'was an eventful, reverent Memorial Day weekend here in Newtown! On Saturday, American Legion Post 202 Newtown, CT, the Legion Auxiliary, Sons, State Representative Martin Foncello, dozens more, and I didn't let a little rain get in the way of hosting their annual Memorial Day ceremonies indoors, at Newtown's Edmond Town Hall Theater.

Traditionally held outdoors at the beautiful Liberty & Freedom Monument, participants and hundreds of memorial luminaries were moved indoors. The luminaries were relocated to the monument on Sunday.

Photos include a 2025 view of luminaries at the monument and the cornerstone, engraved with the words shown in the first photo.

God bless the brave men & women who gave their all, for all of us.
