The evening update has some changes to the overall outlook. Otherwise, the Slight Risk (2 of 5) for severe weather continues for much of central Arkansas through the night. Damaging winds is the primary threat, with some large hail and locally heavy rainfall also possible. The locally heavy rainfall may lead to some isolated flash flooding.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 8:45 PM CDT for Washington County, AR, and Adair County, OK. A severe thunderstorm near Westville moving southeast at 15 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and 0.75 inch hail. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor.

Special Weather Statement until 3:30 PM CDT for Marion, Baxter, Stone, Izard, Newton County higher elevations, Searcy County lower elevations, Newton County lower elevations, northwest Searcy County higher elevations, Johnson County higher elevations, Pope County higher elevations, Van Buren County higher elevations, and eastern, central, and southern Searcy County higher elevations. Strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-size hail, plus torrential rain and frequent lightning. Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow unsecured objects; localized flooding and dangerous travel possible. Seek shelter indoors if outdoors and never drive through flooded roadways.

Severe weather and flooding possible this afternoon
Check out satellite and radar there’s an outflow boundary moving south across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. Anywhere along and south of that boundary could see a strong storm or two. Gusty winds, heavy rain ( localized flooding ), and lightning will be the main risk.

UPDATE: The SPC's Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms has been pushed south for today due to morning storm's outflow. Scattered thunderstorms are expected redevelopment this afternoon and quickly move south into Arkansas. These storms will have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts, especially along the Missouri-Arkansas border. Repeated thunderstorms in the same area may result in flash flooding.
