In a major strategic realignment, the Department of the Air Force is reassigning its combat air forces advanced intelligence formal training units from Air Education and Training Command to Air Combat Command. This proactive, four-phased initiative shifts the focus away from basic administrative in-processing to deliver structured, long-term reintegration resources for Airmen and their families.
By offering dedicated peer support networks, family workshops, and specialized outreach for single Airmen, this blueprint ensures a healthy transition over several months rather than just a few days. Taking care of our personnel upon their return is a critical mission that directly reinforces our long-term combat readiness.

Air Combat Command’s elite maintainers and operators proved that readiness is our absolute foundation during a flawless real-world rescue mission near Creech Air Force Base. When an F-35 pilot was forced to eject, the 355th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 34th Weapons Squadron immediately mobilized to launch rescue helicopters from a non-alert posture in under thirty minutes.
This rapid response was made possible by the incredible synergy between the flightline crews and the Rescue Operations Center as they synchronized multiple agencies to bring our wingman home safely.
