Optimal’s July 2026 Employee Spotlight selection is Taryn Meyer.

Taryn started as a Coordinator of Community Services in the Central Region with Optimal in January 2025. She was promoted to a Resource Coordinator of Community Service in January 2026. Taryn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and recently completed the Certified Case Manager. Prior to starting at Optimal, Taryn was a stay-at-home mom, a professional in-home caregiver, and worked with adults with developmental disabilities at a DDA provider. Taryn loves the support she gets from her supervisors and human resources. Her biggest struggle is keeping up with DDA’s frequent changes.

Taryn lives in Baltimore County with her husband, Rene. They have a blended family of eight children: Rocky, 28, Luke, 23, Madison, 21, Hunter, 18, Ryan, 11, Noah, 10, Allison, 8, and Lyanna-Rose, 6. They also have a Shorkie dog named Lady.

Outside of work, Taryn and her family like spending time outside going on hikes, to parks, and attending all of their children' s events. Taryn competed in ice skating for nearly 10 years. Allison is following in Taryn’s footsteps by taking up ice skating. Her other children are involved in track, football, flag football, and gaming. Taryn likes to relax by reading on her Kindle and playing on her Nintendo Switch. Taryn also enjoys watching crime documentaries, thrillers, and horror movies. Taryn and her husband also collect horror animatronics and other collectibles (Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Funko Pops, DC, Marvel, Thunder Cats, etc.).
