Never underestimate the empowering effect of human connection.

Humans are hard-wired to connect – and we have the most complex and interesting social behavior out of all animals.

We loved seeing these young athletes gather with each other to bond and discuss their strategies today.

We presented the kids with a challenge, a few obstacles, and a whole other team to navigate around. They listened with curiosity, and just as I saw, I had their attention… I said ok,

I’m going to explain to the other team now, and I’ll be right back, ok?

I then just curiously watched what they would do next.

Look to me for further clarification?

Turn to each other?

Maybe nothing at all..

What unfolded made me stop and appreciate the power of positive human connection in any form.

They wrapped their arms around each other and got to business. No adult guidance… just kids working together to reach a flow state to accomplish a goal.

This social behavior is a critical part of our adaptive toolkit. It allows us to come together and do things that we wouldn’t be able to do on our own.
