Let's Ride - Illinois

Over the past few months it has come to my attention that is on the rise in the Chicago area. It's almost as bad as it was if not worse than the pre pandemic levels, especially on . Yes, the response by the driver in front of me was also irrational but this is what can result by driving slow. Yes, slow driving in contrary to popular belief is also and is also dangerous. that there are laws against driving excessively (more than 10% ) under the speed limit? I will post the laws below. Hopefully the Illinois Department of Transportation City of Zion Illinois Police Department and the Lake County IL Sheriff's Office can all come up with a solution to combat the growing safety issues along this route.

(625 ILCS 5/11-606) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-606)
Sec. 11-606. Minimum speed regulation. (a) No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation of his vehicle or in compliance with law.

Sec. 11-703. Overtaking a vehicle on the left. The following rules govern the overtaking and passing of vehicles proceeding in the same direction, subject to those limitations:

(b) Except when overtaking and passing on the right

is permitted, the driver of an overtaken vehicle shall give way to the right in favor of the overtaking vehicle on audible signal and shall not increase the speed of his vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle.

I can ride a bike faster than the speed this driver was going and eventually slowed to. In all seriousness if you are driving this slow you probably shouldn't be driving at all.

Oop! Looks like the last few videos I've released on this topic are finally starting to resonate. Today, a was pulled over by the Illinois State Police Troop 3 for violating the lane restrictions (you can tell by how he's stopped on the left shoulder). Now we just need the Illinois Secretary of State to increase penalties for being caught, then we will see more enforcement and eventually this will stop and things will go back to how they were prior to 2014. Then we can all get to our adventures and destinations with minimal delay and in peace
