Erison Property Inspection

When hiring a home inspector, why settle for limited experience. I've been a home inspector for over 21 years. I know a thing or 2 because I've seen a thing or 2. Hire experience not someone recommended who's just learning.
This year, lung cancer will account for about 156,000 deaths, or one in four U.S. cancer deaths.
Radon exposure is the cause of about 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year. (U.S. EPA Indoor Environments Division, August 2017).
This information should prompt each of us to test our homes for radon and if needed, take action to reduce the level of radon in our homes.
Since we all have extremely busy lives and responsibilities, a perfect time to perform a radon test is when we are involved in a real estate transaction.
We are focused on a new home, we want that home to have the best indoor air quality, and we want to have it inspected to ensure it is a safe environment.
August 1st was World Lung Cancer Day reminding us all about this “most common” form of cancer.
Join us in promoting radon tests for each real estate transaction as well as the concerned homeowners that are our neighbors, friends and family.
Please see our attached brochure and visit our website. If you or your client would like to schedule a radon test you may do so directly on the website or call our office.
Together we can be lung cancer aware, communicate radon’s link to lung cancer, test our homes, reduce if needed and make an effort towards healthier indoor air quality.
This has been a rough couple of weeks for several people the northern suburbs with water in basements from external flooding or seeping into the home from window wells, foundation crack leaks and sump pumps that failed from overwork and there was no backup sump pump . When the water recedes and cleanup is possible, there is a possibility that the water or moisture allowed mold to take hold in walls, under floors or even in ceilings. For those who had a company come in to clean up the mess or did the cleanup themselves, did you have a mold test done afterwards to make sure that the cleanup removed all the potential mold that may have started. Areas that can’t be seen are nice moist, dark spots where mold may have an opportunity to take hold.
A mold test of the home, after the cleanup, can confirm that there is no unusual mold spores or that additional cleanup is necessary. We want everyone to live in a healthy home. If you’re interested in having a mold test performed in your home after the water recedes and the cleanup has been completed, we are Erison Property Inspection and we do mold testing. We don’t do the mitigation, because if we find mold spores in the home, we don’t our clients wondering if we found it because we do the also do the cleanup work. In our minds, that’s a conflict of interest and there are many reputable companies that do a good job of mold cleanup.
If you’re interested in having a mold test preformed in your home, Contact: Yale at Erison Property Inspection, 847.477.3565 (call or text) or email to [email protected].
Did you know that bleach does not kill mold. It changes the color to transparent, so it looks like it's gone. That's why it looks like it comes back again. It was never gone. To clean mold use a mold killer cleaning product. There are many different brands available at hardware and big box stores. Read the label before buying or ask for assistance. Though you would like to know.
Merry Christmas & a very good New Year to everyone.
In Illinois, the State requires homes that use natural gas, to have a CO detector within 15 feet of ALL sleeping areas. If only one CO detector is in the home, having it in the basement will not wake you up if your sleeping on the first or second floor. If it's battery powered, replace the battery every 6 months to a year and if the detector is over 7 years old, replace the detector itself.
Did you know that washing machine hoses are supposed to be replaced every 5 years, before they break and flood the laundry room.
