This 33 seconds video was taken in the historic Forest Heights community that EEECHO serves. These are the risks and realities confronting our climate vulnerable Gulf community. This is merely a remnant of Tropical Storm Arthur’s system, but we were under imminent threats of severe weather and flooding and had been getting alerts about every 10 minutes. The heavy rains, high winds, 2000 lightning strikes and thunder have caused frequent, but brief power outages at our home, but thousands are completely without power. Dozens have been rescued from rising flood waters and damage from fallen trees. Local television programming has been interrupted for the entire day to exclusively broadcast coverage of the dangers of this storm. And now the Anchor Lake Dam has been compromised in the adjacent Pearl River county community. All the tributaries around us are at or above flood stage. And this is only the beginning of the storm season.😨
