Grover Beach used to have a library. On May 20, 1980, it was closed in order to consolidate all library services in the new county library on Branch Street in Arroyo Grande. The little library on south 9th Street was sorely missed. With the encouragement and financial support of Clifford and Mary Lee Clark, the South County Family Educational and Cultural Center non-profit corporation was formed i

A ribbon cutting was held June 11 in celebration of the completion of the makeover of Ramona Garden Park.
"Ramona Garden Park is at the heart of Grover Beach's community life," said Grover Beach Mayor Kassi Dee in a news release. "This major investment reflects our commitment to creating accessible and vibrant spaces where families can connect and thrive. We are incredibly proud to deliver a park that will expand recreational options for generations to come.”
Improvements include an accessible playground for children of all abilities, new landscaping, upgraded bathrooms, ADA pathways and a modern amphitheater with a bandshell.
The Grover Beach Community Library runs adjacent to an area of the park.
"We are thrilled with the way it turned out," Library officials said. "It is a beautiful park, and a perfect spot to read a good book."
City and county officials and members of the community turned out for the festivities that could be in the running for the longest ribbon in ribbon cutting history.
Funding for the project was powered primarily by a $3.3 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, supplemented by local development impact fees and community fundraising efforts. As the host site for major city traditions like the Summer Concert Series, Ramona Garden Park is a vital economic and cultural engine for the city.
