Groovy Paws Training
Guilty of thinking about your dogโs training progress in my free time. ๐พ
๐จ Stop scrolling if you have a dog! Fireworks season is coming.
๐พ Make sure your dog's microchip information is up to date.
๐ Start desensitizing now by playing fireworks sounds at a low volume and pairing them with treats, play, or meals.
๐ฉโโ๏ธ If your dog struggles with loud noises, talk to your veterinarian before the holiday.
A little preparation now can make a huge difference on the 4th of July.
Your dog didnโt come with an instruction manual. Youโre not supposed to know everything.
Ask the question, send the video, tell me the weird thing your dog did. Thatโs what Iโm here for. ๐
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...
The secret isn't training longer, it's training consistently. ๐๐พ
A growl is a warning, not a behavior problem.
When we punish growling, we may stop the sound, but we don't stop the discomfort behind it. Over time, some dogs learn that warnings don't work and start skipping straight to behaviors that do.
I'd much rather hear a growl than be surprised by a bite.
Listen to the growl. Don't punish the messenger. ๐๐พ

Thinking about training but not sure what an evaluation actually looks like?
Swipe through to see what happens during a Groovy Paws evaluation, from discussing your goals to creating a training plan tailored to you and your dog. ๐พ

Wondering what happens during a training evaluation? ๐
A lot of people worry they'll be judged, that their dog has to be "on their best behavior," or that it's just me talking at them. The reality is much more relaxed.
An evaluation is our chance to get to know each other, talk about your goals, figure out what's been challenging, and start creating a plan that works for both you and your dog.

POV: You started a dog training business because you love working with dogs... then realized you're also the social media manager, photographer, videographer, editor, marketer, scheduler, customer service rep, accountant, and CEO. ๐
But honestly? I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Getting to help dogs and their humans every day makes all the behind-the-scenes chaos worth it. ๐

๐๐พ VIPup of the Month: Meet RILEY! ๐พ๐
This month we're celebrating Riley, a 5-year-old dachshund mix who has been working on reactivity. ๐
When Riley first started, he was a foster pup who was constantly being turned down by potential adopters due to his reactivity towards EVERYTHING.
Since then, they've been absolutely crushing it with:
โจ Observing small triggers like geese and not barking.
โจ Less reactions towards people, even approaching some.
โจ Having a successful visit to the groomers.
One thing we love about Riley: How his hair blows in the wind. ๐ฅน๐ถ
Weโre so proud of the progress this dog/handler team has made and so grateful to be part of their journey. Give Riley some love in the comments! ๐โจ
If your hand is up right now, you're not alone. ๐โโ๏ธ
Between work, errands, appointments, and trying to squeeze in a little time for yourself, it can feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day.
The good news? Your dog doesn't have to miss out on exercise and enrichment just because life is busy.
Our Sniffaris and Sniffventures help your pup burn energy and explore the world while you focus on the rest. ๐
Ready to give yourself one less thing to worry about? Send us a message to book now! ๐โจ
