tle your own grievances. You don’t have that “silliness” where the “staff” is going to come in, or some officer from the National is going to come down and overrule the wishes of the local membership. That’s the ground floor, the foundation, the Democracy of our Union in action. That’s the members running this organization. Next the Locals come together on a regional level. The regional level is where we bring up training and organizing issues or other challenges that face the Locals. You run it the way you want to run it! Locals select their delegates that come to these meetings and you run your affairs that way. You determine the direction that your region is going and what you want it to do. Now the three regions come together once every two years at a Biannual Convention. Again you elect your delegates, and you debate the issues and the policies and you set the agenda for the next two years. You make the important decisions that then go back to the locals for ratification. You vote on things we are going to do on the national level including organizing and what the finances of the union are doing. This is the highest decision making body of our Union. Finally on the National level, and that’s where I come out of, we oversee the entire organization. The National Union is built from the bottom up the structure is from the bottom up and most importantly the rules and regulations come from the bottom up! We are run by the members. The UE general officers are made up of three people; President Bruce Klipple, Secretary-Treasurer Myself, and the Director of Organization Bob Kingsley. We only administer the agenda You set forth at the Biannual Convention. There is also a legal department a research department an accounting department the folks that do the UE news here. All that is really designed to figure out how to best provide support to the Locals and the folks out in the field. This is what we mean when we say the MEMBERS RUN THIS UNION!
