💙 Men’s Mental Health Month 💙

This month, we’re recognizing the importance of men’s mental health and the strength it takes to ask for support when it’s needed.

Too often, men are taught to carry stress, grief, anxiety, and life’s challenges on their own. The reality is that seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of courage.

At Spirit Horse Ranch, we’ve seen how meaningful connections, time spent outdoors, and interactions with horses can create space for reflection, healing, and personal growth. Horses don’t judge, don’t expect perfection, and have a unique way of helping people slow down and be present.

To all the men who may be struggling silently: your mental health matters, your experiences matter, and you don’t have to face challenges alone.

💙 Check in on a friend.
💙 Start a conversation.
💙 Ask for help if you need it.

☀️Apparently blondes really do have more fun… at least that’s what these two keep telling us.

These golden-haired beauties spend their days off snacking and sunbathing. Their beauty routine consists of rolling in dirt immediately after being groomed and somehow still looking fabulous.

We can’t confirm whether they’re born with it or if it’s hay and sunshine, but one thing is certain, this blonde crew knows how to steal the spotlight.🎩

🐾 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🐾

BOWL💙
Position: Barn Cat Supervisor
Department: Rodent Control & Morale Management
Years of Service: Classified
Favorite Activities: Napping on the clock, accepting compliments and pets, and conducting surprise inspections of feed rooms.

Bowl is a dedicated member of the Spirit Horse Ranch team. While some may question his productivity due to the 18+ hours he spends sleeping each day, Bowl insists he is “on standby.”

His greatest strengths include:
✔ Looking adorable
✔ Demanding snacks with confidence
✔ Showing up exactly when food is served
✔ Maintaining a strong work-life balance

When asked what he enjoys most about working at the ranch, Bowl responded, “Meow.” We assume that means he appreciates his coworkers.

Thank you, Bowl, for your continued commitment to doing the absolute bare minimum while somehow remaining everyone’s favorite employee. ❤️🐱

“Good mooooooorning!”
– Flint, probably 🐴

Flint is already up, supervising the ranch, checking for treats, and making sure everyone starts their day with a smile. We hope your morning is off to a great start too!

🔊SOUND ON

The storm may be loud outside, but inside the barn, there’s peace.

🐴 Horse Fun Fact! 🐴

Have you ever heard that horses sleep standing up?

It’s true… but it’s only part of the story!

Horses can doze while standing thanks to a special system of tendons and ligaments that allows them to lock their legs and relax without falling over. This helps them stay alert and ready to move if needed.

But here’s the myth-buster: horses don’t get all of their sleep standing up. To reach deep, restorative REM sleep, they need to lie down. So if you see a horse stretched out in the pasture, don’t panic…they may just be catching up on some quality sleep! 😴

Confidence building starts small.

For our new mini horses, that means learning that the arena is a safe place filled with positive experiences. We’re carefully exposing them to new sounds, therapy props, and different situations they may experience during sessions in the future.

The goal isn’t to rush them, it’s to help them feel secure, curious, and confident. By slowly introducing new challenges and reinforcing healthy boundaries, we’re helping shape calm and trusting therapy horses for the future.

These little minis are already making incredible progress, and we can’t wait for everyone to follow along on their journey! ✨

Before becoming therapy partners, our minis will spend time learning how to navigate all the different experiences they may encounter in the arena. We’re working on:
-Desensitizing to sounds and movement
-Introducing therapy props and equipment
-Practicing respectful boundaries with people
-Building confidence with new experiences

We take things slow so they can process, learn, and feel safe every step of the way. Watching their confidence grow has already been so rewarding! 💙
