A chiropractor's office was getting mystery print jobs from somewhere inside a shared medical building.
Pages would randomly start printing, using expensive color ink, and nobody knew who was sending them.
The issue turned out to be printer discovery services like WSD and AirPrint that were making the printer visible to everyone on the shared network. After reconfiguring the printer and moving it to a dedicated TCP/IP connection, the mystery print jobs stopped.
Sometimes IT problems aren't broken hardware—they're settings that nobody knew were enabled.
