As traumatizing as the events in Uvalde have been it is important to understand that First Responders can be traumatized as well from these events. A problem we all face but even more so in small towns is that when a tragic event such as this happens the chances increase that the victims or potential victims could be the families of those First Responders. It is easy to cast blame when we are trying to wrap our brains around what has happened. However: we need to understand how the brain works. The actions of those traumatized do not come from the functional part of their brain but the survival part. A parent will instinctively protect their own. All I ask is, please understand that a Papa or Momma Bear regardless of even their own safety will protect their cubs. This why even Doctors and Nurses shouldn't treat their own because emotion gets in the way. Please pray for ALL involved in this and every tragedy.
