Last week, I taught a continuing education course (OLLI) at Furman University. It was on privacy and security in a digital age. Today, The Times kicks off an ongoing project on Privacy. The loss of privacy is one of the unintended (maybe) consequences of technology. There are few easy answers, some upsides, lots of downsides and many risks/exposures we may not even be aware of. I don’t know what solutions might look like, but a deeper awareness of all the ways technology has infiltrated our lives, and all the ways we are complicit in this friendly takeover, is a good start.
