Paid $13,500 for a full front porch and staircase pour and the crew walked off the job while the concrete was still wet, leaving forms completely unsupported and step risers that are already showing slump on the left side where the lumber shifted during the pour.

Every contractor we talked to acted like keeping the pipes clean and off the ground was “too much trouble”… so my husband Steve looked at it and said, “Forget it, I’ll handle it myself.”

He grabbed some leftover wood, cut notches into each piece, and built custom little supports to keep everything lifted, protected, and organized underneath.

Is it the fanciest setup in the world? Nope.
Did it solve the problem perfectly? Yep.

That’s the thing about Steve — when contractors say “can’t,” he says “watch me.”

Trying to fix my MIL's gate. Someone built my MIL a "gate" on the cheap last year and obviously it has started to sag because they haven't braced it at all, can I lift it and brace like in the image?
The post is solid enough but might need to add longer screws as well. It is a bit of a disaster.
