Happy Birthday to Rooted In 💚
Three years ago, we began with a simple commitment to serve our community and a belief that food could bring people together, reduce waste, and nourish our neighbors.
Today, that commitment has grown into something so much bigger.
From our early days at Trinity to our new Community Culinary Center of Excellence, we've seen what's possible when a community comes together around a shared purpose.
These photos tell the story—where we started, where we are today, and what this incredible community has helped make possible.
This milestone belongs to everyone who has taken a seat at the community table: our volunteers, donors, partners, neighbors, and supporters who believed this work was worth building.
Thank you for helping Rooted In grow from an idea into a movement that is nourishing people, strengthening our community, and ensuring good food doesn't go to waste.
We're just getting started. There is still so much more ahead, and there's always room for more people at the community table. 💚

Paperwork should not be the reason a family loses access to food.
Stricter SNAP rules and added administrative hurdles are causing people to lose benefits, even when they still need help putting food on the table.
Research has shown that stricter work requirements reduce SNAP participation far more than they increase employment. We are already seeing a 6% drop in participation in Wisconsin.
That matters because food insecurity is not always visible.
It can look like someone working inconsistent hours
Someone caring for a child or aging parent
Someone without reliable transportation
Or even someone whose income is just high enough to lose benefits but not high enough to afford enough groceries.
When assistance becomes harder to keep, families are forced to make hard decisions. We see the impact of that in our work at Rooted In.
The Senate still has an opportunity through the Farm Bill process to protect SNAP and strengthen food access.
