DiscoverWeld
In 2011, the Weld County Board of Commissioners participated in the Governor’s implementation of a statewide economic development strategy which resulted in the Colorado Blueprint: A Bottom-Up Approach to Economic Development. Creation of the Discover Weld web site began in 2012 and debuted in 2013. The goal of the site is to share with the public, residents of Weld County and beyond, the numerous gems that truly make Weld County a Colorado treasure.
When your alma mater is being recognized, you’ve got to represent and show up locked and ready to celebrate. The board of commissioners enjoys celebrating our community! Weld County’s growth is a reflection of our strong economic fundamentals. According to a new report from the Common Sense Institute, Weld added over 9,500 residents between 2023 and 2024, more than any other county in Colorado. Since 2010, the population has increased by nearly 49%.
People are coming here for opportunity. Weld is the state’s leader in oil and gas production, producing the majority of Colorado’s crude oil and natural gas. It’s also a national leader in agriculture, with many farms generating six-figure annual sales. Our county continues to attract renewable energy manufacturers like Vestas and Sphere Renewables, and our growing professional services sector is bringing in a skilled and highly educated workforce.
In 2023, the median household income in Weld reached $93,287, over 20% above the estimated statewide living wage. Economic opportunity is at the heart of our growth.
This data comes from a new Common Sense Institute report.
