To answer this question, it’s probably best that I share with you a defining moment and resulting “compelling story” that brought me to where I am today, coaching business owners and small business entrepreneurs like you on exactly w
hat to do to duplicate your office model to produce the growth and profit of your business consistently. That defining moment in my life happened when laying on my sofa, with my two Shi Zhu puppies, eating a pack of cookies at 2am, wondering what was I going to do with my life, since all I had, I thought, was my career. A few weeks prior, I was terminated from my corporate job due to budget cuts, where I was the Chief Operating officer for twelve companies. One evening, I fell asleep laying on my sofa and I woke up in a pool of sweat. All I kept saying to myself is, “What have I done?! Did I really lose my well-paying corporate job just to struggle to pay bills? How will I pay my mortgage if I don’t start interviewing for jobs FAST!?” I tossed and turned nightly until I made my mind up to call my mom in the middle of the night. After I explained everything, she said, “Baby, if there’s one thing I know about you, it’s that when you want something, there’s nothing that’s going to stop you from getting it. So just figure out if Mississippi is where you need to be. Because people will pack up their families and move across the country for an opportunity to make their dream a reality.”
Three months later, after I divorced the sofa and cookies, and decided the sofa would no longer be my vacation spot. I started a consulting business helping other business and entrepreneurs expand their current business to generate more clients, profit, and stretch their vision by branching out and opening more locations. As time went on, I found myself working with entrepreneurs and mid-size companies who had startups, who were located in my home town. I was able to obtain clients right away, just enough to pay my bills month to month. I began to realize the owners were frustrated, due to their staff not following the inner office policy and procedures and lack of automated systems, which would save in time and money. Therefore, turnover was high. They were spending hundreds of hours retraining old and new staff on the business, versus focusing on growth and profit, allowing them to eventually duplicate their business model and get home at a decent hour to spend time with family or friends. At that very moment, I made a commitment to immerse myself in absolutely everything that had to do in helping clients optimize and duplicate their business model system. I read every book on internal business systems, business development and growth I could get my hands on. I made sure I was certified in many areas nationally and internationally. In a nut shell, I essentially decided to become a mini-expert on how to assist my clients in growth and profit by duplicating their business, clients, and profit. During this process, I had an epiphany! The thing that I enjoyed MOST about what I do was actually putting business models and systems in place for each department, allowing the owners to duplicate and launch additional locations, while balancing family and home while! AWESOME RIGHT?! Soon, my colleagues heard about my success and started calling me and taking me to the side and saying “Dora, how were you able to get 1 client paying a retainer of $10,000 a month and $100 a week for coaching calls, and I’m not able to get 3 clients paying $300 a month? What am I doing wrong? Can you help me?” I’d give them two or three strategic pointers to do and told them to call me in a few weeks to tell me how it went. Virtually every time, they called me back a few weeks later saying “Yeah! The few changes I made in my business, just to get the doors open worked! After being open 7-days I made over a $1000 and have doubled that money in a few weeks and I definitely will need your services as soon as I am ready to open another location!!!!”
I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping others expand their businesses, through my workshops, products, and mastermind conferences. Since then, I’ve worked many clients, spoken in front of many groups, and have created the Raine Growth Partners Institute™ for Entrepreneurs; a series of important practice-building steps every business owner and entrepreneur needs to apply.
