☀️ Another incredible week of summer camp is in the books at Therapy & Fun / Therapy & Life Skills! ⛺️

We often get asked what a typical day looks like for our campers. Each day is packed with purposeful, structured rotations designed to help our littles thrive, including:

🗣️ Individual & Group Speech
📚 Reading & Arts & Crafts
🛋️ Individual & Group OT
💪 Fine & Gross Motor Activities

What makes this program so impactful is the sheer amount of support. Thanks to our phenomenal volunteers, our goal is a 1:1 ratio to ensure each camper gets the dedicated attention they deserve! It means the world to our caregivers to be able to drop off, take a deep breath, and relax knowing their child is in excellent hands. 🤍

At CTC, we focus on the whole family. Caregivers always get a personalized update on their child's therapy sessions—a level of wrap-around support you just don’t see in a lot of places.

☕️ Caregiver Connection Spotlight: This week, we discussed sensory processing and shared tips for our sensory-seeking kiddos. Caregivers even got to test out different sensory tools first-hand without having to buy anything! Beyond the strategies, the community and mutual support in that room were absolutely priceless.

Wishing all of our incredible CTC clients, families, and the entire Grand Rapids community a safe, joyful, and happy 4th of July! 🎆❤️🤍💙

While Independence Day is full of excitement, the loud noises, bright flashes, and crowded community events can sometimes feel overwhelming for kiddos with sensory sensitivities.

If you are celebrating today, here are a few quick tips and strategies to help keep things comfortable and fun for your little ones:

🎧 Bring the Noise Cancellation: Over-ear noise-canceling headphones or simple earplugs can make a world of difference during community parades or fireworks displays.

🌅 Create a "Safe Zone": If you are attending a backyard BBQ or local park event, identify a quiet, low-stimulus area (like a parked car or a quiet blanket far from the speakers) where your child can go to take a breather.

🎒 Pack a Sensory Comfort Kit: Bring along familiar comfort items—think favorite fidget tools, a weighted lap pad, or comforting snacks to help regulate their nervous system.

⏰ Preview the Day: Let your kiddos know what to expect before the noise starts. Visual schedules or a quick chat about the timeline of the day can vastly reduce anxiety.

🚗 Have an Exit Strategy: It is entirely okay to leave an event early if your child shows signs of sensory overload. Prioritizing their comfort is a major win!

However you choose to celebrate, we hope your day is filled with bright smiles and wonderful memories. Happy 4th, GR! 🗽✨
