Cast Off the Cold is a community volunteer organization that donates hand knit or crocheted hats, scarves and mittens to people and organizations that may need them through the cold winter months. As crocheters, knitters, and overall fiber enthusiasts we believe that giving back to our community and helping fellow citizens in need is very important. You can help out by donating at one of our various drop off points or by contacting us to help with distribution!

We yarn bombed some trees in the Heartside district yesterday! Let us know if you want to help yarn bomb donations with us! We would love some additional hands!
You can also donate your hand knit or crocheted items to Country Needleworks in Jenison, Parliament the Boutique in Grand Rapids or JT Stitchery in Rockford.
Thanks to everyone who made end-of-the-year donations of hand-knit or crocheted hats, scarves and gloves. We are dropping off several big bags and boxes to Mel Trotter this morning! All of you did a fantastic job!
It's not to late to donate!! We'll be making another big drop off at the end of January. Check out Country Needleworks' Donation Tree in their back social knit area! Or do some downtown shopping and drop off donations at Parliament the Boutique. There's lots of ways to get involved and all it takes to start is to cast on or start the first chaining your next project.

Cast Off the Cold will be picking up end-of-the-year donations from JT Stitchery(Rockford), A Grand Skein, Country Needleworks (Jenison) and Parliament the Boutique (Downtown Grand Rapids) on Monday December 30th. Drop off your hand knit/crocheted scarves, hats and gloves this weekend to any of the above participating businesses so we can collect and donate warmth to Mel Trotter on Tuesday!
