PSMA PET imaging is no longer a nice-to-have option for patients with prostate cancer. It is CENTRAL to accurate staging and precise treatment planning.

A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine confirms this. We reviewed the study, and these are the key takeaways:

🔸The study reinforces the importance of PSMA PET in high-risk prostate cancer, especially when determining whether disease is truly localized or has spread

🔸Conventional imaging did not fully capture the metastasis-free survival difference. When PSMA PET was incorporated, the results became more clinically relevant to how prostate cancer is staged today

🔸PSMA PET can create a more accurate molecular map of prostate cancer, allowing physicians to better understand where disease is before major treatment decisions are made
