50 years ago today, President Ford traveled over 500 miles by plane, helicopter and automobile to help citizens celebrate the American Bicentennial.

The Foundation is proud to honor outstanding journalism covering the U.S. presidency and national defense—two pillars of democracy that President Ford held in the highest regard.

This year's honorees are Ashley Parker and Michael Scherer of The Atlantic, Sig Christenson of the San Antonio Express-News, and Honorable Mention recipients Renee Dudley and Doris Burke of ProPublica. Their reporting exemplifies the vital role of a free press in informing the public and strengthening our democracy.
