🚨 The Department of Education is being dismantled— under the leadership of someone facing allegations and serious legal questions over child safety.
Linda McMahon isn’t just restructuring the U.S. Department of Education— she’s actively dismantling the very agency that protects millions of students.
Meanwhile, she’s being sued for allegedly ignoring child‑safety warnings while in charge of WWE, even REHIRING a man after knowing he had a “peculiar and unnatural interest” in boys.
If someone allegedly failed to protect children in the past, can we really trust them to oversee, or dismantle, the agency that safeguards every child’s education?
This isn’t just a policy agenda. It’s a dangerous pattern.
Schools fear disruptions as White House begins dismantling Department of Education Much of the Education Department’s work now will be spread across four other federal departments. For President Donald Trump, it’s a step toward fully closing the department and giving states more power over schooling. Yet many states say it will complicate their role as intermediaries between l...
🚨Action Needed🚨HB 4922, which would eliminate licensing requirements for school librarians, is scheduled for a second reading before the House Education and Workforce Committee on Tuesday, November 5th.
Please email your opposition statement by November 4th (template below) to Committee Clerk Brittany Middaugh at [email protected] and reference the November 5th committee meeting in your message.
If this bill passes, Michigan would become the only state in the nation without certification requirements for school librarians. Currently, all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. require certification.
Decades of research prove the value of certified librarians:
Michigan schools with certified librarians had 35% more fourth graders scoring proficient or above in reading.
Students in schools with certified librarians achieve higher reading and writing scores, higher graduation rates, and stronger research skills.
Michigan already ranks 46th nationally in students per certified librarian (2,760:1 vs. the U.S. average of 1,160:1) and 44th in fourth-grade reading on the 2024 NAEP.
Eliminating professional standards will further harm literacy outcomes and widen inequities. Certified school librarians are essential educators who teach research, digital literacy, and critical thinking: the very skills Michigan students need to succeed.
Please act now to protect educational quality and stand up for Michigan students. You may customize the template below, or create your own testimony. Please copy and paste into your own email.

Subject: Opposition to HB 4922: November 5th Committee Meeting
Dear Chair and Members of the House Education and Workforce Committee,
I am writing to oppose HB 4922, which would eliminate licensing requirements for school librarians. Research clearly shows that students in schools with certified librarians perform better in reading, writing, graduation rates, and information literacy.
Personalize your testimony here:
If HB 4922 passes, Michigan would be the only state in the nation without certification requirements for school librarians, at a time when our state already ranks 44th in fourth-grade reading and 46th in library staffing. Weakening standards will only make it harder for students to thrive.
Please vote NO on HB 4922 and stand up for Michigan’s students and their right to a high-quality education.
Sincerely,
