We are committed to serving our communities in more ways than one. Last month, HopeWest teamed up with Western Slope - Food Bank of the Rockies to help sort and prepare more than 700 bags of food for distribution to families experiencing food scarcity in the Grand Valley.

Together, we support families across western Colorado.

One common phrase rang out when speaking to this group of volunteers “It feels good to give back.”

Charmed is a group of crafty women who meet every Tuesday to work on special projects for Heirlooms for Hospice, an upscale thrift store that supports the mission of HopeWest. Projects include embroidery, patchwork, felt crafts, and lots of sewing! These creative-minded women repurpose old fabric and use donated supplies to upcycle and create new items, which are sold or used to display merchandise.

“HopeWest is the big picture and the initial draw to volunteering. We all have our niche to fit into and contribute to the mission,” Charmed Volunteer Susan said.

These handmade creations may seem small on their own, but together they support a larger mission. For the members of Charmed, Tuesday mornings are more than a time to craft, but an opportunity to give back, connect with friends, and make a meaningful difference.

Talking about death and dying isn't easy, but it will help the people around you understand what is important to you and why. It will also help them support you and your decisions.
