Kaart and GIS stand in solidarity with the endeavors of MLK and other activists. GIS offers a valuable tool to examine and confront persistent civil rights issues.
During King's time, advocacy leaned on grassroots initiatives, marches, and community mobilization to spotlight social injustices. In the present-day scenario, GIS serves as a potent method to carry forward King's legacy, pinpointing and tackling modern challenges through advocacy backed by data and well-informed decision-making. As Ida B. Wells aptly stated, "The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them."

August 19th is a day to honor humanitarians around the world who strive to meet ever-growing global needs.
Every year, the UN creates a theme to shine a light on different aspects of humanitarian work, and this year's theme is . "We stand with the communities we aim to help no matter where, no matter who, and no matter what.
Kaart is so proud to be a part of such an inspiring and impactful movement and help in any way we can".
If you have not participated in a humanitarian mapping relief project yet, we encourage you to start today. Check out the OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) website for new projects being posted.
