AMRA Round 2 - Globe, AZ 9 NOV 13: Round 2 brought us back to Globe which use to be a great venue. I haven't raced Globe in almost 3 years so I was looking forward to it, but the course is really blown out now and really wasn't all that fun to ride. I spent a lot of time between races dialing in the bike and learning from Round 1, and the bike was excellent. Special thanks to Bob Todd of Future Shoxs for all the help. I got a good start but the dust was so thick you could not see and so rocky it was difficult just to stay on the track. I took it easy on the first lap but my arms and hands were numb from the endless 10miles of rocks. I made a stupid mistake on the tire obstacle and went down. I got back up and picked up 3 places on the second lap. I was doing well on lap 3 until I got to this long up hill lose rock climb into the sun. I did not see the guys stuck in front of me and got tangled up with them which allowed at least 3 guys to pass me. I was in survival mode from that point, just trying to hold on to the bike. I finished 10th out of 16 - pretty disappointing but I still picked up some points in the series. The bike is really good now and I look forward to getting more seat time as I prepare for the next round. Thanks to MotoCity for all the support.

AMRA Round 1 - Tonalea, AZ -12 OCT 13: Well I guess you can say Javelina's hibernate during the summer because this one sure did. The AMRA race season came quick and caught me a bit flat footed. Going with a whole new bike setup without testing or riding was bit tough. The course was fast, lots of very soft sand, some twisty single track and some Moab style slick rock formations. Great course and a format that I would normally relish. Bottom line I grab 7th out of 14 in 40b. Not great but given that I have been out of racing and off the bike for nearly 6 months I can't complain. I got points and it's a long series and anything can happen. I had a great time and enjoyed the course, and it was great to get back into race mode again. I'm putting in the effort on and off the bike and expect much better results next month in Globe. Thanks to MotoCity for the support!
