We recently took on a client whose domain registration and nameservers were transferred to Squarespace after Google sold its domain business to them. The DNS propagation with Squarespace was agonizingly slow, with errors, and their support is virtually non-existent. I received a response to my critical domain-related support ticket a week later, which was a meaningless, irrelevant cut-and-paste reply. In this business, seven days might as well be seven years. As a result, this small business's website was down for days. And there was no phone number to call.

If your website is business-critical and downtime is not an option, I strongly recommend moving your domain to a better registrar and registering your nameservers with a more reliable company. This has been one of my few encounters with Squarespace, and it was awful, even though it wasn't for our business-critical stuff but for a client's website.

Squarespace's social media team responded to my complaint about non-existent support with, "we're currently working through a record number of requests." It's a new level of arrogance for a commercial company to seek sympathy while obviously making record profits and using it for the reason why it can't or won't support the services it's selling.
