Downtown Bonita, spot by spot
If you think Southwest Florida is all gated golf communities and chain restaurants, you haven't seen downtown Bonita Springs lately.
The historic district on Old 41 has come back to life the last few years, and you can park once and walk the whole thing. Right on the Imperial River there's Rooftop at Riverside, a two-story bar sitting over a little food truck park, looking out at the water and Riverside Park. Live music, a sunset crowd, dogs welcome, kids welcome. The kind of place you stop in for one drink and end up staying for the whole evening.
And it's not the only one down there now. More good food, drinks, and live music keep opening, and the city has plans to keep building the area out.
They think beaches and golf. They don't think walkable downtown with a band playing by the river.
