Some retirements say more than a gold watch ever could.
Three years ago, we celebrated Don Odom’s retirement after years of leading Custom operations in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
Don brought knowledge, integrity, humor, steadiness, and spirit to the work every day. He understood the freight, supported the People, served the Customer, and helped set the kind of standard that lasts long after someone clocks out for the final time.
As Cec Davis said:
“It’s all fishing, hunting, family, and faith for Don now. We miss his knowledge, integrity, humor, and spirit. We are all better for having had the pleasure to work with him over the years.”
At Custom, strong employee retention means we get to celebrate something many trucking companies rarely see: good People building long careers here, doing the work right, and retiring with the respect of the TEAM they helped shape.
Don, we hope retirement has been full of all the good stuff — including fishing, and a well-earned slower pace.
Thank you for the standard you set and the People you helped along the way.

“When you’re at a Customer and you’re too long to back in straight… you have to make sure the hose reaches the blower.” LOL!
— Professional Thomas Larkin
Thomas’s Barley delivery in Hammond, Louisiana sits right on the main road, and there isn’t enough room to back in straight without blocking traffic.
So Thomas had to get creative.
Houston Area Terminal Manager Robert St. John said Thomas had to jackknife the truck to get the tractor out of the roadway. That solved one problem, but created another: the hot hose would not reach from the trailer to the blower.
That’s where experience shows up.
Thomas used additional fittings, extended the hose safely, and got the job done.
Robert put it simply:
“Thomas is a top-notch Professional with years of experience. He’s one Driver you don’t have to babysit. Give him a task, and it is done.”
This is the kind of professionalism that most people don't see. Tight spaces, at Customer locations, under real-world pressure, when a Professional Driver has to think, adjust, and finish the job the right way, that's what we're about. It's benchmark performance.
Nice work, Thomas. 🚛💪
