Many of us are taught a limited vocabulary of feeling words. As children, adults may have only asked us about being happy, sad, or tired. Or perhaps we didn’t learn to label emotions at all.

Being able to clearly identify our emotions helps with self-awareness and self-understanding. This can also help us communicate to others how we are feeling and increase accurate self-expression.
