Ground Rule Doppelbock is officially back on tap! This hardy beer is our yearly Lenten release per the rumored story that back in the 1600’s, a group of German Monks brewed up a batch and sent it to the Pope. They asked for his blessing to continue drinking this brew through their Lenten fast, which he gave. Story hasn’t it that the beer went bad on its journey to the Pope during its long journey under the warm Tuscan sun, unbeknownst to the Pope who then felt drinking this brew was penance in itself. However the beer reached the Pope, his blessing was good enough for the group of Monks and the tradition began. Come join us at Desert Monks Brewing in Gilbert Town Square for a pint or 2 and some to-go - no Lenten sacrifices required
