Wendish Fest

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society & Museum hosts the Wendish Fest every year on the fourth Sunday in September from 10AM-5PM. Wendish Fest is a day of celebrating Wendish history and culture through folklife exhibits, unique cultural activities, delicious food, demonstrations, and live music. The festival is outdoors at the Serbin picnic grounds and includes self-guided museum and scheduled church tours. If you would like to sponsor the 2025 Wendish Fest, contact [email protected].

🎉 The news you've been waiting for is finally here! 🎉

For the first time in over 10 years, Wendish Fest will welcome a traditional German folk dance group back to the festival!

Please join us in welcoming Tanzenfest Volkstanzkreis from Houston, Texas. This talented group is dedicated to preserving and sharing German folk dance through authentic costumes, lively music, and traditional performances.

"Tanzenfest Volkstanzkreis is a traditional German folk dance group out of Houston, Texas, founded in 2021. Our mission is to research and preserve the extensive history of traditional dance in German-speaking regions, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We are proud to do so by performing at schools, breweries, festivals, and many other events. We also provide instruction to middle and high school groups seeking to learn the art of traditional German folk dance!"

We're excited to bring this beloved tradition back to Wendish Fest and can't wait to share this special experience with everyone on Sunday, September 27!

Who missed this year’s Wendish Fest? It was a beautiful day in Serbin filled with Wendish heritage, music, and delicious food. From handmade noodles and sausage to lively contests and polka music, the picnic grounds were buzzing with community spirit and family fun. Wendish Fest is all about celebrating Wendish culture, history, and community! From museum tours to traditional demonstrations, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

If you want to purchase some award-winning Wendish coffee cake and support the Texas Wendish Heritage Society's scholarship program, the coffee cake auction at Wendish Fest is your opportunity. The Society awarded $23k to students with Wendish heritage to help offset expenses related to higher education this year!
