Any parent, stepparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student attending the school in the 2026-2027 school year. You may only vote 1 time. All information collected is to verify eligibility to vote.

Are you, or anyone you know, interested in being a part of the GMS Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council?
The Council is seeking nominations for: 1 member for a two-year term (Starts July 1, 2026, and will end June 30th, 2028)
Georgetown Middle School (GMS) will hold its annual election for parent representatives to the school’s Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council. The councils are established by state law and consist of parents, teachers, and the school principal.
Election Timeline
Nominations: May 5-11, 2025 - Individuals can nominate themselves or another person.
Voting: May 12-13, 2025
The winner will be announced by May 14th.
Questions & Answers
What is the council? The council is our school's governing body. It determines school policy for curriculum, staffing, discipline, scheduling, instructional practices, extracurricular activities, and other matters pertinent to the school's operation. The council must include two parents, three teachers, and the school principal.
Who may run for the parent council seats? Any parent, stepparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student attending the school during the term. NOTE: District/board employees & relatives are not eligible.
How long is the term? Two years - July 1, 2026, to June 30th, 2028.
How will I know who is running? A list of nominees will be added to the school newsletter, emailed to families, and posted to our GMS page.
Who can vote in the election? Any parent, stepparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student attending the school in the 2025-2026 school year.
When do we vote? May 12-13, 2025.
How is the winner selected? The top vote earner is elected.

We collected 19.9 pounds of plastic film last week!!!!!! Thank you all so much!!! You guys rock!!!!
Let's see if we can keep this going! Can we get more plastic film this week? Drop off anytime in the labeled container in the front office!
As a reminder, most clean, dry plastic film labeled with the #2 or #4 recycling symbol (polyethylene film). Including:

pallet wrap and stretch film

Ziploc and other reclosable storage bags

GMS, you don't disappoint! This week we have collected 11 1/2 lbs of plastic film!!!! Keep up the amazing job! Let's see how much we can get by the end of the week! A box is available in the front office to put your plastic film in!
Turn Trash Into a Place to Sit!! GMS is on a mission to turn plastic film into a brand-new bench - and we need your help! Just 2 grocery bags of plastic film per student gets us closer to our goal. Let's show the planet some love and see how much we can collect for Earth Day. What plastics can be recycled? Our family night was AWESOME! Thanks to everyone who spent their evening with us.
