A look at the process!☀️ In an effort to usher Spring in a little early, I used really soft colors on this sleepy little fox who is basking in early morning light.

This fox has already been adopted and is headed to its new home in Florida this week. 💜

Two foxes rest on stone as the world ignites around them. Dawn arrives not as gradual illumination but as conflagration: pink light sweeping across alpine ridges, setting pine and fur alike ablaze with the same gentle fire. The foxes exist in that suspended moment between sleep and waking, when the boundary between self and landscape dissolves.

This is the quiet hour when the world reveals itself as it truly is: warm, vast, and somehow held. The foxes anchor the scene not through action but through presence, through their simple willingness to be still as light transforms everything it touches. What I'm painting is not sunrise but the feeling of sunrise: that wordless contentment that arrives when we stop analyzing and simply witness the world becoming itself again, as it does each morning, as it always has.

Let’s welcome “Shimmering Sunrise Sanctuary Foxes” into existence. This one is already 🔴SOLD🔴 to a new collector at Adelman.

The sky was a different approach where I watered down acrylic and used it like watercolor or gouache for the soft sky.

I’m always trying to emulate and recreate the brilliant images of vintage children’s books and I think this one captures that nicely. What do you think?
