The Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) no longer requests that Spotted Lanternfly sightings be reported to them, however, destroying spotted lanterfly adults, nymphs and egg masses when found is still recommended.
🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨
The spotted lanternfly is now well established in Delaware, so we are no longer requiring the public to report sightings.
While reporting is no longer required, management and mitigation efforts continue—and your awareness makes a difference.

🕷️ Peak tick season in Delaware is here!
Delaware Division of Public Health - DPH & Delaware DNREC are reminding everyone to take steps to protect themselves, their families, and pets from tick bites and the diseases they carry—like Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and Alpha-gal Syndrome (AGS).
🦠 In 2024, Delaware reported:
✔️ 344 Lyme disease cases
✔️ 100+ AGS cases (now a reportable illness)
✅ TICK SAFETY TIPS:
Wear long sleeves/pants & light-colored clothes
Use repellent (DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus)
Stay on clear trails—avoid tall grass & leaf litter
Do tick checks after outdoor time: Ticks like to hide in warm, hidden areas, so inspect armpits, groins, and behind the knees.
Keep your yard tidy—mow, remove leaf piles, and add a gravel/wood chip barrier
If you find a tick: remove it promptly with tweezers, clean the area, and monitor for symptoms. Save the tick for ID if needed and report interactions at de.gov/ticks 🧴🧼
