Earlier today, crews from the Scott County Fire Department responded to an injury collision at the intersection of Leestown Road and Weisenberger Mill Road with an occupant trapped inside a vehicle.
Upon arrival, firefighters found one of the vehicles resting on its side with the driver unable to exit. Scott County Fire Department crews, along with an additional crew from the GEORGETOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT, immediately went to work. While one crew entered the vehicle to provide patient care and reassurance to the driver, other crews carefully stabilized the vehicle and removed the roof to create the safest and most effective access for extrication.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of everyone on scene, crews were able to quickly remove the patient and transfer their care to Georgetown/Scott County EMS for treatment and transport.
We are proud of the teamwork displayed by all responding agencies and wish a speedy recovery to everyone involved. It is always encouraging to see neighboring departments working together as one team to protect the community we are all sworn to serve.

On Saturday, May 2nd, Scott County Fire Department crews responded to an injury collision involving a vehicle pulling a horse trailer at Newtown Pike and Paris Pike.
Thankfully, there were no serious injuries to the occupants. The horses involved also sustained no serious injuries.
What made this incident especially meaningful is that it came just days after our department completed specialized Large Animal Rescue training.
Because of that training, crews were able to safely approach the scene, recognize signs of stress in the horses, and use calm, controlled techniques to manage the situation. The horses were carefully guided to a secure, enclosed field nearby, where they remained safe until alternate transportation arrived.
This is exactly why we train.
Incidents like this can quickly become dangerous for fire department responders, the owners, and the animals involved. Having the newly reinforced training gave these SCFD members the knowledge and confidence to handle large animals safely makes a difference, and in this case, it helped ensure a positive outcome for everyone.
We’re proud of our crews for putting their training into action and serving our community in every situation.
Collaborative work between agencies, Georgetown/Scott County EMS Scott Co. Ky. Sheriff's Office - Thank you for the assistance.

Clear needles, leaves, and other debris from your roof, gutters, porches, and decks. These materials can easily ignite from embers and put your home at risk—even if the fire isn’t right next door.
