I’m Eric Love, and this is my testimony.

For 30 years, I battled alcohol and drug addiction. It controlled my life, my decisions, and the direction I was headed. A couple of years ago, I went to my child’s mother’s house. There were people there who didn’t like me, but one of them needed help working on a car, so I agreed.

Later, I ended up leaving with some people I didn’t even know.

While I was at this person’s house, a man asked me, “Do you do coke?” I said yes. He offered me something, and I assumed it was co***ne. I snorted it—but it wasn’t coke. It was fentanyl.

And right there… I died.

When I died, I woke up in a place that’s hard to describe. It was complete darkness, yet I was surrounded by fire. The fire was everywhere—but it gave off no light. I was completely alone. Just darkness… and fire all around me.

As I stood there, trying to understand where I was, suddenly—I was pulled out.

There was no Narcan. No one revived me. I just sat straight up and opened my eyes. I was drenched in sweat, like someone had poured a bucket of water over me.

They took me back to my child’s mother’s house, and I never told anyone what happened.

But now, after coming to church, I understand it.

I know what I experienced.

I was standing in hell—and Jesus saved my life.

After that, everything began to change. I moved to Georgetown, went to rehab, and committed to sober living. I got a good job at Toyota. I got married. My life is completely different now.

Looking back, I believe I was supposed to die that day. I was on a path to becoming just another statistic—just another overdose.

But God had other plans.

Sometimes people say, “You have to be broken before you’re blessed.” I believe that with my whole heart. Because in that moment, I was shown exactly where I was headed.

I was standing in hell.

But Jesus saved my life.
