Terroir refers to how the soil, climate, and terrain of a vineyard can affect how the grapes show up in your glass.

Certain soils can impact different minerals into the grape, altering taste, while the climate and altitude can also change what type of wine the grape produces.

Higher altitudes can supply more sun for the grapes, altering how large they are and how fast they ripen.

Climate can also impact grape production. Warmer climates produce bigger, bolder wines with higher alcohol. Cooler climates can produce wines that express fresher fruit, with her acidity and lower alcohol.
