If you've installed one of those accessibility overlay widgets on your website (the little icon in the corner that promises to make your site accessible), I need you to hear this:
They don't actually fix your website.
They add a layer on top of your site, but the underlying code issues remain. They can even interfere with screen readers and make things worse for the people they're supposed to help. And they've been cited in ADA lawsuits, so they might not protect you legally either.
Major disability advocacy organizations have spoken out against them for these exact reasons.
Real accessibility means fixing your actual website, not adding a band-aid on top. And it's more doable than you think.
In my free workshop, I show you what actually works: free tools to find issues, simple fixes you can make yourself, and a checklist to keep you on track. Get it at the link in the comments.
IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Illustration of a laptop screen showing a cracked website with a bandage stuck over the damage. A small accessibility widget icon sits in the bottom corner of the screen. The image represents how overlay tools cover up problems without fixing them.
