New research from the University of Florida highlights how AI can support earlier identification of delirium risk in intensive care units.
Led by first author Miguel Contreras, a Ph.D. student in the Parisa Rashidi Lab, the multidisciplinary UF team developed DeLLiriuM, a large language model that uses structured electronic health record data from the first 24 hours of ICU admission to estimate delirium risk. The study was published in Scientific Reports and includes collaborators from the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and the UF College of Medicine.
